The ideal motorcycle riding conditions might be a sunny day with a light breeze, but there are always going to be occasions where you have to ride your motorcycle at night. Maybe the sun set too early, maybe you’ve got a destination you have to get to, or maybe you’re trying to get home from an event. Whatever the reason, it’s important to make sure that your nighttime motorcycle rides are as safe as possible.

Be Visible

A motorcyclist clad in black on a black bike is going ot be nigh-on impossible to see on the road at night. If you can’t wear light-colored riding gear, invest in some reflective tape and an orange vest to wear over your darker gear. Change out the bulbs on your motorcycle for brighter LEDs and look into adding more lights to your bike to make it stand out.

Stay Alert & Focused

You should never try to ride your motorcycle at night if you’re too tired, not feeling well, or under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs. You need extra focus to ride at night, so only ride after dark when you’re sure that you can give your full attention to the task at hand.
